FAQ
Common questions about moisture protection
How and where do I install Nordic Dry?
Nordic Dry bags should be placed in areas where moisture tends to accumulate or where air circulation is limited. Typical locations include:
- Any room in your house, flat or place of work
- Cars
- Boats
Bags should ideally be hung ,using the provided hook. Ensure there is some air space around them so moisture can circulate to the bag. If hanging the bag is not possible the bag can be laid flat. It is recommended to place the bag on a hard surface. If placed on fabric, place on top of the plastic packaging.
How many bags do I need?
As a general rule, one 1kg or 2kg Nordic Dry bag should be used in any closed-off small-medium sized room, car or compartment of a boat
In most cases:
- 1 × 1 kg or 2 kg Nordic Dry bag per enclosed space will provide effective moisture protection.
Larger compartments or areas that are particularly prone to condensation (such as cabins or engine spaces) may benefit from additional bags, but distributing bags around separate compartments is usually more effective than placing several bags in one location.
How do I activate the bags?
Nordic Dry bags do not require activation.
Simply:
- Remove the bag from its outer packaging.
- Place or hang it in the desired location.
The bag will immediately begin absorbing moisture from the surrounding air.
How do I know when the bag is full?
As the Nordic Dry bag absorbs moisture:
- The contents gradually change from a dry granular texture to a liquid-like consistency.
- The bag will feel heavier and soft to the touch.
When the contents feel very liquid and the bag has lost its firm texture, the bag has reached full saturation and should be replaced.
How long do the bags last?
This depends on humidity levels and ventilation. In sealed environments the bags will last several months, while in areas with frequent air exchange or high humidity they may saturate more quickly.
It is recommended to check the bags periodically, particularly during winter storage of cars or boats or long periods when the car or boat is not in use.
How do I dispose of a used Nordic Dry bag?
When the bag is full:
- Remove it from its place of use.
- Dispose of it with normal household waste, unless local regulations require otherwise.
Nordic Dry bags are designed with environmentally responsible materials, and the contents are non-toxic and safe to dispose of.
Can Nordic Dry help prevent mould and mildew?
Yes. By absorbing excess moisture from the air, Nordic Dry helps reduce condensation, which in turn helps prevent:
- Mould growth
- Mildew
- Musty odours
- Moisture damage to fabrics, wood, and onboard equipment.
